Corporations are People– Except When They Torture, Rape and Murder?

A historic argument is taking place today in the US Supreme Court.  The Court has agreed to revisit the case of Kiobel v. Royal Dutch Petroleum.  In this case, Shell Oil, which has been accused of being complicit in the torture, and murder of Nigerian environmental activists, argues that, regardless of the facts, a US corporation cannot be held liable for human rights abuses committed on foreign soil.
